SKU: FFLC
The FFLC Series 1×N Fiber Optical Switch provides reliable optical channel selection by directly aligning fiber cores using precision V-grooves in combination with a high-precision miniature motor. The lens-free design eliminates the need for lenses or AR coatings and achieves a typical insertion loss of approximately 0.3 dB. An optional index-matching liquid can be used to fill the gap between the mating fibers, reducing insertion loss to approximately 0.2 dB while minimizing back reflections. This option is particularly advantageous for interferometric and other reflection-sensitive applications. The switch incorporates a latching mechanism that maintains the selected optical path without electrical power. For large-core fibers, the FFLC can also be configured to provide a variable optical attenuator (VOA) function. This option is available for fiber core diameters greater than 200 µm, with attenuation controlled by precisely displacing the fiber cores from their aligned position. Agiltron’s innovative direct fiber-alignment design supports an ultra-broad wavelength range from 200 nm to 3000 nm, limited primarily by the transmission characteristics of the selected optical fiber. The platform is compatible with fiber core diameters ranging from approximately 3 µm to 400 µm, making it suitable for single-mode, multimode, and large-core fiber applications. The FFLC contains an integrated motor driver and USB/RS232 communication interfaces inside the device and is supplied with an intuitive GUI and wall-plug power supply. A complete command set is also provided for integration with customer controllers and automated test systems. The FFLC is bidirectional and highly versatile, making it well suited for fiber-optic sensing, automated testing, spectroscopy, instrumentation, and other applications requiring low-loss optical channel selection over a broad wavelength range.
